Mechanical oil seals are essential components of machinery and equipment, serving the vital function of preventing the leakage of oil and other fluids in various applications. These seals are commonly used in engines, gearboxes, pumps, and other rotating equipment to ensure smooth operation and prevent damage from oil leaks.
Leather is probably the oldest of the lip materials still in common use, but the move towards mass production methods has seen a massive increase in the development of synthetic rubbers which lend themselves to accurate and repeatable injection and compression moulding. Nitrile (NBR) is still by far the most common elastomer for “normal” use, whilst Viton® (FKM/FPM) is rapidly replacing Polyacrylate (ACM) and Silicone (VMQ) for high-temperature applications. Viton® also has high resistance to abrasion and chemical attack making it a preferred elastomer. Recent developments in the use of PTFE for Rotary shaft seals has caused widespread interest particularly for high-speed shaft rotation or poor lubrication applications.

Furthermore, SC oil seals contribute to energy savingsERIKS type R (type A according to the DIN standard) is identical in shape to type M, but has a rubber outer case with metal reinforcement on the inside. The rubber creates a good seal in the housing, even if the housing has suffered minor damage or is not in its best condition for other reasons. The RST version has a dust lip. These types are often chosen to replace a type with a metal outer case because they are easier to install and can cope with minor damage to the groove, such as scratches.
If the gap is larger than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) at any point, have the head or block checked and machined flat by a specialist.
Firstly, OEM spark plugs provide superior ignition reliability. They are made from high-quality materials that withstand the harsh operating conditions of modern engines, ensuring consistent and reliable spark delivery even in the most demanding situations.OIL SEAL
In addition to its functional benefits, the B20 series valve cover gasket also has aesthetic value. A clean and well-maintained engine bay can enhance the overall appearance of a vehicle, and a properly installed valve cover gasket can contribute to this aesthetic appeal. If you require any assistance in discovering the factors that lead to the right oil seal choices, the Simply Seals Team is happy to assist you!
Oil seals are used for essential applications in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. They are created to avoid leaks from the sealing lip and rotary shaft by forming a thin layer of oil between them. Oil seals could be developed using well-known sealing materials, involving NBR, EPDM, PolyTetraFluoroEthylene (PTFE), Silicone, and fluoroelastomer.
